FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- We are not sure that our parents can afford your workbooks. What is your
response to this?
- Most parents are supportive of any project at school if they are aware of
its value. That is one of the reasons why we encourage you to use our
classroom resource materials in the run up to the visit. We also welcome
parents on the day, and ask you to invite your local press. Along with the
visit itself, these combine to create a major and memorable project at school
that most parents will want to support. Please also remember that we take all
financial risks associated with the visit, although we do reserve the right to
decline an invitation in extreme cases.
- What happens if the weather is unfavourable?
- We will call you early in the morning to discuss your local conditions. If
either party deems it too wet, cold or windy, our office will then offer you
later dates that are mutually convenient. If conditions deteriorate during the
day we will suggest another date as before.
- I don’t want the whole school standing outside waiting for you to arrive –
how do we know when you are coming?
- We would already have agreed a date and time with you but if, very rarely,
the aircraft is delayed, you would be informed by telephone. In practice, we
telephone anyway from the venue we are at prior to yours, and give you our
arrival time exactly to the minute.
- How long does your visit last?
- From the time the aircraft arrives overhead to the time it departs is
approximately one and a half hours. With the talk, the question and answer
session and the photography, our visit will be neither too short nor too long
– it is effective and efficient and exactly right.
- We have a special date in mind …..can we book it?
- We make every effort to accommodate specific requests but need you to ask
as early as possible so that we may build our flying schedule around your
needs. Our flight operations are dependent on us "hedge-hopping" the
helicopters from one venue to the next.
- Can we raise any funds by inviting you?
- Yes you can……
Please refer to Fund Raising & Commission
- Will your visit create extra work for our Secretarial Staff?
- We try to keep this to a minimum. Parents are asked to make payment using a
money envelope….simply keep these together along with the class record sheets
that we provide. Don’t worry about having to count money and banking receipts.
We will do this for you at no charge and make prompt payment of commission.
- What happens about workbooks that "go astray"?
- Our class record sheets enable staff to identify those payments/workbooks that
are outstanding and these should be followed up. If required, we can also
supply you with a letter that can be sent home indicating that, by withholding
payment, parents are depriving school of funds. However, we do accept that a
few might escape the system and we would never hold your school liable.
